WENDY A. MAIER

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY, 61st DISTRICT

REPRESENTING THE COMMUNITIES OF CHINO, MONTCLAIR, ONTARIO, POMONA

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Wendy Maier and I am the Republican nominee for the 61st Assembly district election to be held in November. It is an honor to be given the opportunity to seek to represent the citizens of the 61st Assembly district in our State Legislature.

As the owner and operator of a successful business in downtown Pomona, I understand the value and importance of a balanced relationship between government and business.  Fiscal responsibility is critical when dealing with the public’s money. Specifically when planning for future infrastructure development and sensible growth. I believe this policy is even more crucial when dealing with government services.  Citizens entrust government with the task of protecting their livelihoods and ensuring prosperity for future generations. When elected, I will take these principles to Sacramento and serve the residents of the 61st Assembly district with pride and distinction.

Prior to owning my own business, I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. For six years I taught mathematics, life skills, and computer technology for the Department of Corrections as a teacher for incarcerated youths. This experience opened my eyes to the challenges faced by our youth, many of which are caused by our failing educational system.  Our youth today need proper education, not a system that merely passes them along. Legislators must develop curriculums that will empower our children to compete in any career field. Educators, administrators, and parents should be encouraged to work together for our youth. By reducing the red-tape in our school districts we can focus on creating a proper learning environment where every student is the priority, and not another “number” for public funding.

Along with improving California public schools, my priority is our public safety system. I have first-hand experience in public safety. I was raised in a home where public safety meant everything. As the daughter of a 20 year veteran police officer, and a sister a Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputy, public safety values were a critical component of my upbringing. For six years I served as volunteer fire fighter, providing assistance to my neighbors and my community. Whether it was Police or Fire or City services, I watched the sacrifices made by those who chose to protect and to serve. We must never underestimate the sacrifices our public safety officers make each day to safeguard and protect our families.

California is a great State. It needs thoughtful and careful leadership if we are going to preserve it for future generations. I am candidate that will bring that thoughtful decision making to the people of the 61st Assembly district.  I have the public service background and the business know-how to make it happen. That is why I am asking for your support and endorsement in my campaign for the State Legislature. I pledge to be fiscally conservative with our tax dollars and work hard to balance the state budget and end our spending addiction.

Please join me in this effort to return the 61st Assembly District to fiscally responsible hands. Together, we can make our State “Golden” once again!
